I picked up a kouki coupe and was wondering what's new in the corolla world. I see a lot of guys running turbo 4ag and sr converts. Seems like a lot of work. Wheres Takeshi at for wiring a silver or blacktop, whos got parts in stock around town? That sort of thing.

Looking for street drift, kansai style. Thanks for reading.

The most popular route these days is SR and diamonds. Kevin's was pretty badass, I dunno if he still has it or not

Red coupe with a 3 cyl engine. Im not sure if it's burnt or what yet. Have you got some news for me? :)I'm going to pick it up in an hour or so. Was hoping it was sticking. Crap :(

Brett, for sure on the diamonds, know any kicking around, or where is the local dealer? As for the SR, it looks like a bunch of work compared to a 20v install... plus the cost of an SR, man you'd think they would have gone down in price a bit by now. I was even thinking ca18 but again with the pain in the ass. Whats a girl to do?

I scored a can of mercruiser power tune, it makes brake cleaner look like koolaid. I'm goign to try and clean up the intake by spraying it while running. If that fails I'll pull the head in the morning. Been a LONG time since I ripped a car down. Who needs the interior and heater and all that shit I don't use?

awesome guess eh? my spidey senses were tingling. throw out the top end sell the bottom end and swap in an sr. 20 valve is nice... compared to a 16 valve 4age but kinda gutless compared to an sr20. if you got the experience and the know-how i dont see why you would waste your time with a 4age. me on the otherhand, im going to try to turbo my 4age knowing that it'll be a tremendous waste of time and money. at the end of it all ill probably sell it and upgrade to an sr20

Hi Duy,

Yeah you are right on the money on the car. But why throw out the bottom end? She's fixable no? Did it drop a ring?

I'm trying to build it up on the cheap and quickly. If I do SR I could do rotor or ca18. Just all of them use more gas and I lose my cheapness factor. Ive seen the yamaha headed 4ag's for $500 and the wiring is just a bit of time. Even the GZe I did way back was a PITA in the end. I'm looking for 150hp as I have arcyl windows and some other shit to lighten it up a bit.

i meant to sell the bottom end and throw out the top end of you we're planning for the swap. im pretty sure the rings are fine seeing how it doesnt blow chunks of oil, my best guess would be 2 burnt exhaust valves on the first piston. if you were going for a cheap fix i would grab 2 new valves and have the seat redone by a machine shop. 150 hp doesnt seem too bad though, cheap turbo and bigger injectors maybe? let me know what the problem with your engine is after you find it. like i said im in the process of bumping up my hp and the sr20 is looking a lot more tempting every day

Duy, ahh ok, I was hoping to lope it home on the bottom end. Man you guys sure are all about the SR. Now you got me thinking. If I'm going to bother bumping up a 5 valve maybe I should just get on with it and go for the sr...

Scremin, Us? Are you so juvenile you think this is an us against them thing? No son, I plan on driving for fun.

Daryl on the other hand will kick the fuck out of you with his car. He plans to destroy you and everyone else. So good luck with that.

Yeah you'd think they would go down, considering how common and dirt cheap they are overseas... The market just keeps sustaining itself I guess. As for diamonds, I was considering getting some, but that plan's gone down the shitter. I might organize a group buy anyways.

I always say if you're considering a CA, you may as well shoot yourself or go pick up an SR. There's a guy from WA who's selling his SR that was in a corolla, here's the specs:

Thanks for the SR ad. I just might go for it. I jeard the diamonds run like $70 for a 15x9ish steel no chrome or white. I'd be down with a set of 6. Kevins car was super hot. I saw it on a coast video, how was it with the rotor? Not much footage of it.

Duy, I guess I got your car, your name is on the paperwork. Thanks I guess? I drove it home after dumping the foam in it. No change on the valve. I love how a Toyota can drive on 3 cyl better than most car on all. The car itself is so clean inside I am hesitating removing the iterior. Its the nicest one Ive owned so far. Why couldn't they have put ina better engine dammit! Looks like I need a head gasket, and to pull the burnt valves. But at that point I might as well buy the 20 valve.

yeah i bought it off the guy a while ago without really checking it, drove it around for a couple hours and realized it was misfiring. checked it and found out first piston made almost no compression, returned it. out of curiosity how much did you pay for it?

The Diamonds are around 80 USD a piece I think? Although it changes with what size/offset you want, and the possibilities are endless.

I only ever saw Kevin's rolla with the 13b once. I think he just had a shit ton of issues because of how low it was. I remember hearing something about him hitting the oil pan all the time. I don't think there's much footage because he didn't drive much. That car was/is definitely form over function, but shit it looked awesome.

Buddy you havnt got a clue do you? Theres one thing I've learned about drifintg... some guys go into a corner thinking "what if I crash, it will cost a fortune" guys like Daryl hit the fucking gas. Makes for a huge difference in learning curve. Good luck, his suspension costs more than your entire car. :D

Brett, season must be starting up, peeps starting to spend some dough, me included. Im leaning 20v itb cuz it sounds like sex. But if I can find a cheap SR I'm down. Time to Call Al Koo from drifters ink out fo the woodwork. Anyone seen Ross and Victor latley?

I dunno, it's stayed pretty quiet for build threads on a lot of forums... Which doesn't really mean anything other than I spend far too much time staring at my laptop.

If I organize a diamond gb I'll let you know. I've got a few people already interested
