Doing Work vs Buying Different Car?

I own a mint auto s13 hatch with around 140xxx ks on it.
Here are my estimated costs (correct me if im wrong) of what i want to do
Note: not making a drift machine, more of a dd.
I want to do a 5 speed swap - $700
Decent Coils - $1000
Wheels - $1000
Built up DOHC KA - $1000
So im looking at about 4 grand in work give or take.
Should i just buy a bloody 5 speed with high k's and some work done? It seems so much less expensive but risky
Its so hard to find a 5 speed in good condition.
Just looking for an opinion, on what to do.

The only real extra cost vs buying a 5 speed model, is the cost of the manual conversion, but if you're doing another motor anyways, that doesnt really matter because you'd be doing the clutch etc anyways and KA trannys are almost free. I tried to sell one for $20 and no one came for it.

FYI - A stock KA isn't 'decent' power.
Like Jordan said... Transmissions are paperweights. I've probably given away/thrown away at least a half dozen in the last couple years.
Don't bother putting the money into the KA. Not worth it.

Maybe on planet scrotum.
Also... it's not truth if it's your opinion

It's the "I've never actually bought these parts so I have no idea what the real world cost is" pricelist

Only true if you are well experienced in working on cars. The best intentions will end in the most piss-poor quality of work when the knowledge is lacking. If he isn't a mechanic, he'd be better off buying a pre-done car and saving himself a bunch of headache, as chances are the quality of work will be equal or better than what he can do.

Incorrect. KA-Ts are junk, just about everyone know this. KA-T = more expensive to build, little to no resale value.

not going against reo's word on ka's but they are way to harsh against the ka when in reality its a great turbo'd motor.
